If you think that one shelving unit is the same as another, that’s not quite true.

Differences exist even among shelves, and they are significant, in order to choose the model that best suits your needs, and to design a warehouse that is perfectly safe and legal.

So here is a simple and basic differentiation between the main categories of shelving; light, heavy and very heavy.

LIGHT SHELVING: light shelving are designed for commercial use, in archives or storage areas, in different types: cantilever shelves, single-level shelving, shelving with longitudinal or transverse shelves.

HEAVY AND INDUSTRIAL SHELVING: designed for industrial use, this type of shelving includes cantilevers, drive in, drive through and pallet racking.

VERY HEAVY SHELVING: designed for use in warehouses that store sheet metal or metal coils, with a load capacity between 5 t and 20 t per shelf.
